It's been a little over a month since I transitioned back to the 9 to 5 grind and, to be honest, I'm still not used to it. Don't get me wrong - I love my job and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work from home during the Covid pandemic. But there's something about having to be in an office from 9am to 5pm that just doesn't feel right. Maybe it's because my days were previously filled with endless flexibility, or maybe it's because so many of my friends are now working remotely like me. Whatever the reason, adjusting back to a more traditional work schedule has been harder than I expected.
Of course, there are some positives to working in an office again. I get to see my colleagues face-to-face (even if we are wearing masks), and I don't have to worry about finding childcare for my son. But there are also some negatives, like the fact that I now have to commute during rush hour and deal with the stress of office politics. Overall, I think it's going to take me a little while longer to get used to this new normal.
Do you have any tips for adjusting back to a traditional work schedule? If so, please share them in the comments below! Thanks for reading.
